Sarah’s Wedding Gown Preservation in Texas
Sarah married the love of her life on a gorgeous fall day in San Antonio Texas. Her wedding gown was special because it was the exact same dress her mother wore almost 30 years earlier. Read more about Sarah’s wedding and dress in our Q&A with her below!
When and where was your wedding?
I got married on October 26, 2013 at the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. We had both the ceremony and reception here and this is also where we regularly attend church.
Tell us more about your heirloom wedding dress!
This is actually my mother’s wedding dress–she got married in 1985 and saved the gown all these years in the hopes that she would have a daughter who would wear her dress. And I did just that!
When did you know that your mother’s wedding dress was “the one”?
I’ve known it since I was 6 years old. The more I thought about it over the years, the more the dress grew on me. I knew I would never find another dress that was as special (and vintage) as my mother’s.
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
Going down the aisle! I’d been dreaming of my wedding day since I was a kid, so knowing I was marrying the man of my dreams and wearing my mother’s wedding dress while being surrounded by all of the people we loved was the best feeling in the world!
Why did you want to get your wedding gown cleaned or preserved?
I want to preserve this family heirloom wedding gown for my future daughter or my niece. There is no other style like it out there and it would be amazing to pass along to future generations of women in my family.
Why did decide to get your wedding dress cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I took my dress to Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists in San Antonio, Texas because they were professional, understanding and extremely heartfelt in accommodating me in my wheelchair. I truly appreciate the excellent work they did!
