Morgan’s Wedding Dress Cleaning in Alabama
Although bride Morgan got married in Alabama, she had her very own “Say Yes to the Dress” experience when she journeyed all the way to New York City for her Lazaro wedding gown at the famous Kleinfeld Bridal. Read more about her dress and wedding in our Q&A below!
When was your wedding and where did it take place?
Steven and I got married on April 12th, 2014 at the Oaks Plantation in Centerville, Alabama.
How long did it take to plan your wedding?
We were engaged for 16 months–he proposed 5 days before Christmas. We decided on a long engagement so the timing would work out for a Spring wedding. But we did use the entire 16 months to plan the wedding! We booked the venue a month after the engagement and hired the amazing Christopher Confero (of Christopher Confero Design) as our wedding coordinator and event designer.
When did you know that your gown was “the one”?
I purchased my Lazaro wedding gown at Kleinfeld Bridal. I arrived at the salon, put on the famous pink Kleinfeld robe and waited for dress consultant Diane (the lady you see all the time on TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress“) to bring me gowns to try on. When she came back, she had 5 or so dresses in her hand. The first one I tried on was lace with an open back. I’ve never been much of a lace kind of girl, but wanted to give it a try anyway. It felt amazing to have on a wedding dress, but when I walked out of the dressing room to show my girls, we quickly agreed that lace was not for me. I went back to dressing room anxious to try on more.
Ten dresses later, Dianne pulled out the dress. I knew that it was my dress from the very moment I saw it on the hanger. It was beautiful! I slipped it on and looked in the mirror. It was amazing. I practically bolted out of the dressing room and back to the showroom to excitedly show my girls. They knew it was the one the moment they saw it as well. This was my dress!
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
My husband was very much against the idea of a first look–he was adamant about not seeing me before the ceremony. And ultimately I’m glad he felt that way–my absolute favorite memory was seeing his face the moment the chapel doors were opened. The look on his face when he saw me brought tears to my eyes! I wanted to run down that aisle and into his arms.
Why did you want to get your gown cleaned and preserved?
I know that I will never wear my dress again, but the dress was so special that I wanted to do everything possible to keep it as gorgeous as it was the day I got married in it. Who knows, maybe one day my daughter will love it as much as I do and want to wear it for her special day.
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
Champion Cleaners has a wonderful reputation in the Birmingham area. I was incredibly cautious about who cleaned my dress, but I knew that I could trust and rely on them to get the job done. They did an amazing job cleaning my dress, which I knew was no easy task. The bottom of my dress was filthy due to having an outside wedding reception, but they were able to clean every last stain out of the dress!
