Marie’s Wedding Gown Preservation in Florida
Bride Marie and her husband met while bonding over their favorite thing to do… sail boat racing! It was only obvious they would have their wedding set on a beautiful lake after a weekend spent racing sailboats together. Check out her beautiful photos and more on her special day in our Q&A below!
When was your wedding and where did it take place?
We were married on May 24, 2015 at the Atlanta Yacht Club located on Lake Allatoona in Acworth, Georgia.
When did you know that your wedding gown was “the one”?
The dress I chose as “the one” was an Alvina Valenta purchased at Wedding Angels Bridal Boutique in Roswell, GA (the second bridal salon I visited). I had narrowed it down to two dresses that I loved; they were very similar in style, but two different designers. I could envision myself walking down the aisle in either, so I left it up to my entourage: my mom, sister and aunt. I tried on each dress one more time and told them to pick the dress that looked best on me—It was unanimous! The all-lace Alvina Valenta was the winner!
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
It’s hard to pick my favorite memory! My husband and I both grew up around water and share an intense passion for sailboat racing. We met doing the thing we loved most so it was only fitting that our wedding day reflect that. There is a big regatta every Memorial Day weekend at the yacht club I grew up at so we thought what better weekend to start our lives together as a married couple! Most of our sailing friends & family would be there anyway so what’s 100 more?! We had the rehearsal Friday evening, raced all day Saturday and Sunday morning and finished out our weekend with a perfect Sunday evening wedding.
…And did I mention my maid-of-honor and FOUR of my bridesmaids also raced that weekend?! Who says nine girls need all day to get hair and makeup done for a wedding! 🙂
Why did you want to get your wedding gown cleaned and preserved?
I decided to get my gown cleaned and preserved simply because it is too beautiful not to! I do not have plans to sell it, and realistically I know my future daughter will probably not want to wear it. However, I just couldn’t bear the thought that my gorgeous, expensive wedding dress could turn yellow if I did not take the necessary precautions. Peace of mind knowing my dress is safe from the elements is definitely worth the money!
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I knew Oceanside Cleaners were excellent in the services they provide, so I figured their bridal service had to be above and beyond—I was right! I dealt with Lily and she was not only sweet, but very professional. She was extremely thorough in explaining the steps they take to get the stains out, as well as the cleaning products they use. Having that information left no doubt that I would receive my dress back in perfect condition.
