Kristin’s Wedding Dress Preservation in Connecticut
Beautiful bride Kristin had to try on over 30 gowns before she found “the one” in the most unexpected way. Read more about her wedding and dress in our Q&A below!
When was your wedding and where did it take place?
We got married on June 7th, 2013 in Myersville, Maryland at the Musket Ridge Golf Club.
When did you know that your wedding dress was “the one”?
I tried on over 30 gowns. I would find that there were certain parts of gowns that I liked, but I could not find a gown that seamlessly pulled all of the pieces together. When I arrived at Lefty’s Bridal Boutique in Largo, Maryland, the owner let me look through her catalog and that’s how I found it–my gorgeous Mori Lee BLU wedding gown! I purchased the dress without even trying it on. I just had a feeling and decided to go with it.
The dress arrived two weeks before the wedding and it fit like a glove. Praise God that it did, because I had no time for alterations. I do not recommend this method of wedding dress shopping to anyone, but am super thankful that it all worked out for my wedding day!
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
I have two! The first one was the moment my husband and I shared after exiting the ceremony. We had just a few minutes to ourselves so we looked at each other, smiled and relished in the fact that we were finally husband and wife. That was really special!
The second is praying with my bridesmaids and maid of honor before the ceremony. They are awesome women and I am grateful for their friendships. It was a wonderful moment filled with love, faith, support and a few tears too.
Why did you want to get your wedding gown cleaned and preserved?
I would love for my future daughter to wear my gown. That would be an honor, but even if she chooses not to wear it I know that she will want to see it up close and in person. I remember seeing my mom’s wedding gown and marveling at it. It always left me wondering what it would have been like to be there on the day that my parents got married. My mother did not have her gown preserved and she wishes that she had. Like they say, hindsight is 20/20, so her regret definitely made an impression on me.
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I brought my wedding gown to Sally at Orange Restoration Labs because I wanted to have it preserved by someone with knowledge and experience. I wanted to know that my gown would be preserved with care, because it had been chosen with great care!
