Kelly’s Wedding Dress Preservation in Florida
Bride Kelly and her fiance maintained a long distance engagement (he was living in Florida and she was in New York) so were thrilled to officially start their lives together after their fall wedding in New York. Read more about her wedding and dress in our Q&A below!
When was your wedding and where did it take place?
John and I got married on November 8, 2014 in Auburn, New York. We had our ceremony at St. Mary’s Church and our reception at the Emerson Park Pavilion.
When did you know that your wedding gown was “the one”?
I purchased my gown at RK Bridal in NYC and I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on! It fit perfectly and I LOVED the sleeves. I was hesitant at first because I pictured my dream dress to be more of a ballroom style wedding gown and this one was form fitting. But when I tried this one on, I realized that the form fitting style was more flattering and looked perfect on me!
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
My favorite memory was walking into the church and seeing my very soon to be husband, John. We had been living apart long distance (him in Florida for a new job, me in NJ/NY) and I was so happy that we were officially starting our lives together. It was also awesome to see the church packed with all our loved ones.
Why did you want to get your wedding dress cleaned and preserved?
One of the funniest moments of wedding planning was trying on my mom’s vintage wedding dress from the 1970’s. I think she knew I would never be able to wear it but it was a fun moment between the two of us! I hope to be able to do the same with my future children or use it to make Christening gowns like we are doing with my mom’s dress.
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
We celebrated A LOT and the bottom of my dress was black so I knew it had to be cleaned. I brought my dress to Oceanside Cleaners in Jacksonville, Florida because I read great reviews on TheKnot about their services. Lily was such a pleasure to work with–she was so friendly and helpful!
