Jenn’s Wedding Gown Preservation in Connecticut
Jenn had her wedding on a perfect June day at an absolutely stunning venue in Connecticut. Read more about her dress and wedding in our Q&A with her below!
When was your wedding and where did it take place?
My wedding was on June 15, 2012 at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, Connecticut. It was an absolutely perfect June day–we couldn’t have asked for better weather!
When did you know that your wedding gown was the “one”?
It took awhile to find my perfect dress because I made the classic bride mistake of trying on way too many wedding gowns! I ultimately found my Allure wedding gown at Stylish Impressions in Farmington, Connecticut–I wanted a gown with a lot of detail and flowers, so this one was a frontrunner. When I finally tried it on, I realized that it was the only gown I could actually picture myself in on my wedding day.
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
My favorite memory is when my husband and I sat down at our sweetheart table at the beginning of dinner. We were both just smiling and looking around the room at our family and friends. It was also the first moment we had to ourselves since saying “I Do”. Scott turned to me and asked if I was happy, because he knew how much time and effort I had put into planning our big day. I remember tearing up and telling him that I had never been happier in my entire life. In that moment, everything was perfect. It was so beautiful and there was just so much love in that room–my heart was overflowing with joy.
Why did you want to get your wedding gown cleaned and preserved?
I actually don’t have any specific plans for my wedding gown right now, although I do hope it gets worn again. Even though I can’t bear the idea of parting with it, I knew I had to make sure it was properly cleaned.
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I have a background in fashion design, so I know very well what can happen to fabric over time if it has any sugars or alcohol left on it. So I wanted to make sure I had it cleaned by someone that understood that. I did a search online and Orange Restoration Labs had great reviews and seemed to be the most knowledgeable in the area. They seemed to really understand fabric and how to care for a gown, which was extremely important to me!
