Bride Danielle proves once again that it’s never too late to have your wedding gown cleaned and preserved! Although she was married three years ago, she was inspired to get her gown cleaned and preserved after recently giving birth to her baby girl. When was your wedding and where did it take place?
We were married on September 29, 2012–our ceremony was at St. Patrick’s Church in Mystic and our ceremony was at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT.
When did you know that your gown was “the one”?
I actually never had that “aha!” moment when it came to shopping for my wedding dress. I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted (a princess, drop-waist gown with a huge skirt and train), so I bought a Pnina Tornai gown at Kleinfeld in NYC which came close to what I was looking for. I was still unsure if this was the perfect gown for me, but the team over at Kleinfeld were amazing and understood my vision. They added tons more crinoline to the gown and then it was absolutely perfect!
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
The best moment was when the Church door opened and I got to see all of my friends, family and of course my husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle! The weather was terrible that day and I was very upset about it–but in that moment I realized that it didn’t matter. That memory, in addition to dancing all night at the reception to Bruce Springsteen (I’m from Jersey!) with my friends and family made it such a wonderful day.
Why did you want to get your gown cleaned and preserved?
I have a newborn daughter, so I hope someday she’ll want to wear my gown, or incorporate pieces of it into her own wedding dress.
Why did you decide to get your gown cleaned and preserved by a member of th Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
I wanted to make sure it was cleaned and preserved by someone who would do it thoroughly and perfectly. I have heard stories of people getting their dresses cleaned only to open it years later to find a burn mark or large spot on it. Orange Restoration Labs came highly recommended for their method of cleaning and preserving the dress and Sally is truly the expert on all things wedding dress related!
