When and where was your wedding?
We got married on April 26, 2014 in Ponte Vedra, Florida. The ceremony was at the Christ Episcopal Church and the reception was at the TPC Sawgrass.
How long did it take to plan your wedding?
We got engaged on New Years Day in 2013 but since I had always wanted a spring wedding, we had a 16-month long engagement. We booked our vendors right away, which was awesome because most of the vendors we wanted were available since we booked them so early! The 5 months before the wedding were the busiest by far though.
When did you know that your wedding gown was “the one”?
I got my Modern Trousseau Eden dress at The White Magnolia in Jacksonville, Florida. Although it was the first dress I tried on, part of me immediately knew it was the one. I wanted a dress with lots of texture and while I love lace, many, many brides chose lace dresses. I wanted something different for my big day. I ended up trying on half the dresses at the store but in the end, the Eden dress was still the perfect choice.
I got my dress very early on and was so worried I would come across other dresses during that time that would cause me to regret my early purchase. Luckily that didn’t end up happening–I still LOVE my dress and would choose it again! It was exactly what I wanted and felt one-of-a-kind.
What is your absolute favorite memory from your wedding day?
At the end of the night, the band played the last song which my husband and I slowly danced to. In the meantime, all of our guests surrounded us and swayed along to the music. It was completely spontaneous, intimate and such a beautiful moment. It was the perfect way to end a fabulous night.
Why did you want to get your gown cleaned and preserved?
Growing up, ‘the dress’ was always the one thing I thought about when I pictured my wedding day. Even while planning the wedding, the only things I really cared about were having a dress I loved, an awesome band and good food. I got my dress preserved so that I can keep it in mint condition. I may want to wear it again someday, but I also want my daughter to have the option to wear it or incorporate it into her wedding day if she chooses to do so. I know that is something my mom wishes she would have done.
Why did you decide to get your wedding gown cleaned by a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists?
My family has used Oceanside Cleaners‘ dry cleaning services for several years and we trust them. My gown was very intricate with the overlay and I knew I could depend on them for excellent work and customer service. The last thing I wanted to worry about was giving it to someone I didn’t have a trusted relationship with and risk ruining my dress! They did an amazing job and I would recommend them to any bride in the area.
